How much does concrete resurfacing cost in Arizona?
Concrete resurfacing cost runs $3 to $7 per square foot in HomeGuide’s national guide. HomeGuide puts a decorative or stamped overlay at $6 to $20. Angi’s 2026 guide puts the national average at $2,000, and most homeowners spend $1,000 to $5,000. These are published ranges, and a real number needs a look at the slab.
A worn driveway or a faded patio does not always need to come out. Concrete resurfacing spreads a thin cement-based overlay over the slab you already have, as long as it is sound. DC Construction and Development offers concrete resurfacing and overlays across Queen Creek and the East Valley. Our crew resurfaces driveways, patios, walkways and pool decks, and we tell you when a slab needs replacing instead.
This plain-English guide leans on published national ranges from HomeGuide and from Angi’s guide, updated in October 2026. They are market numbers, not a quote, and your slab’s condition can move a real job either way. It covers price per square foot and by project size, then prep, replacement math and East Valley weather.
What does concrete resurfacing cost per square foot?
HomeGuide’s national guide puts concrete resurfacing cost per square foot at $3 to $7. Angi’s 2026 guide puts a basic job at $3 to $5, rising to $9 when extensive damage repair comes first. HomeAdvisor’s guide puts the average at $3 to $5 per square foot. The overlay type and the slab’s condition move the price within those ranges.
Labor is most of the concrete overlay cost. Angi says materials are often no more than 20 percent of the total, and labor averages $1,600. On a brand-new pour, the pattern goes into the concrete itself, which is our stamped and decorative concrete work.
- Basic resurfacer or microtopping: HomeGuide lists a basic overlay at $3 to $7 per square foot. Angi puts microtopping, under 1/8 inch thick, at $3 to $7.
- Decorative overlay: HomeGuide and Angi both list $6 to $10 per square foot. This tier adds color, texture or saw-cut designs.
- Stamped overlay: HomeGuide lists $7 to $15 per square foot for one pattern and $15 to $20 for complex designs. Angi lists $5 to $20, and Concrete Network puts it at $6 to $14 installed.
What does it cost to resurface a driveway, patio or walkway?
HomeGuide’s national size table puts a 10 by 10 patio at $300 to $700. A two-car driveway runs $1,200 to $2,900, and a 24 by 36 three-car driveway runs $2,600 to $4,300. Angi’s 2026 size table spans a wider range, with 500 square feet at $1,500 to $4,500.
By project, Angi lists driveway resurfacing at $3 to $9 per square foot and a patio at about $4. When a driveway is too far gone for an overlay, our new and replacement driveway work takes over. A failed patio or walkway gets poured new through our patio and walkway work.
Pool decks price the same way, by the square foot. HomeGuide puts basic pool deck resurfacing at $3 to $6 per square foot and decorative designs at $6 to $12. Angi lists a basic 750 square foot deck at $2,250 to $3,750. Other deck options and their published prices sit in our pool deck resurfacing cost guide.
HomeGuide’s published national ranges, not a quote. Area is simple math on each size.
| Project and size | Area | HomeGuide range |
|---|---|---|
| Patio, 10 by 10 ft | 100 sq ft | $300 to $700 |
| Patio or 1-car driveway, 10 by 20 ft | 200 sq ft | $600 to $1,400 |
| 2-car driveway, 20 by 20 ft | 400 sq ft | $1,200 to $2,000 |
| 2-car driveway, 24 by 24 ft | 576 sq ft | $1,700 to $2,900 |
| 3-car driveway, 24 by 36 ft | 864 sq ft | $2,600 to $4,300 |
| Sidewalk or walkway, 4 by 50 ft | 200 sq ft | $600 to $1,400 |
| Pool deck border, 4 ft wide | 360 sq ft | $1,100 to $2,200 |
What do prep, repairs and sealing add to the cost?
Prep and repairs happen before the overlay, and they add to the bill. HomeGuide puts power washing at $0.35 to $0.77 per square foot. It lists crack filling at $0.50 to $3 per linear foot. Angi says most slabs need some repair first, at $50 to $3,500 or more.
Angi calls power washing a required step, since dirt left on the slab weakens the new bond. HomeGuide says cracks wider than 1/4 inch typically point to foundation problems, which bring more cracks after resurfacing. Angi’s repair table puts minor surface cracks at $250 to $800 and spalling at $300 to $3,500.
Sealing comes last, and HomeGuide lists it at $1 to $3 per square foot installed. Angi suggests sealing about a month after resurfacing and plans around $700 for a 500 square foot slab.
Is resurfacing cheaper than replacing the concrete?
Usually, as long as the slab is sound. HomeGuide puts driveway resurfacing cost at $3 to $5 per square foot, against $6 to $15 for a new driveway. It puts patio resurfacing cost at $3 to $7, against $4 to $12 for a new patio. Tear-out and haul-off come on top of any new pour.
On a 20 by 20 two-car driveway, HomeGuide’s size table puts resurfacing at $1,200 to $2,000. At HomeGuide’s $6 to $15 per square foot, a new driveway that size works out to $2,400 to $6,000. Angi says replacing a driveway too damaged to resurface can run $15 per square foot. Our concrete removal cost guide covers what tear-out adds before the new pour.
The math flips when a slab is heaving, crumbling or cracked through. Concrete Network says it is not feasible to resurface concrete that is heaving or has severe cracks. A failed slab is a job for our concrete repair and replacement service, which tears it out and pours new. For a cracked slab, see whether to repair or replace cracked concrete.
How do East Valley heat and monsoon storms affect resurfacing?
Heat and storms decide when an overlay can go down. One widely sold resurfacer calls for air and concrete surface temperatures of 50 to 90 degrees. NASA mapped Phoenix pavement at 120 degrees and up. Monsoon season runs June 15 to September 30, and the same product needs rain protection for at least 8 hours.
Pavement that hot sits far outside that window and can dry an overlay out before it bonds. So in summer we start early to beat the heat, before the sun loads the slab. During monsoon season, storm days move the schedule rather than risk a fresh overlay. We work year-round.
If your driveway, patio or walkway is sound but worn, our concrete resurfacing service puts a new surface on it. Request a free estimate, and we will look at the slab before putting a number on it.
