A concrete slab is the part of the job you never see again once it's poured, so it has to be right the first time. DC Construction and Development pours flat, square, properly reinforced concrete slabs across Queen Creek and the East Valley, from shed and shop floors to full room-addition foundations. Owner Dustin Cash runs every project hands-on, and the work shows in the result: clean lines, solid edges, and a slab that sits where it should without cracking or settling.
Most slab problems start in the dirt, not the concrete. Out here in the desert, that means dealing with caliche and expansive soils that move when they're not handled correctly. We excavate to the right depth, compact the base in lifts, set your forms dead level, and place rebar and a vapor barrier before a single yard goes down. Whether it's a small pad or the foundation under a new casita, we build it to carry the load and last.

You can pour a perfect concrete slab and still watch it crack in two years if the ground underneath wasn't prepped right. East Valley soils are tough on concrete. Caliche layers and expansive clay swell and shrink with moisture, and they will lift or settle a slab that's just sitting on loose fill. We dig down to stable ground, remove or break up problem material, and compact the base in lifts so it carries weight evenly. The grading gets checked, the forms get set level, and only then do we pour. That base work is invisible in the finished job, but it's the difference between a slab that stays flat and one that telegraphs every crack.
A lot of desert construction sits on a stem-wall foundation, and for good reason. The footing goes below grade to bear on solid soil, the block stem wall brings the structure up off the ground, and the slab pours inside it. Done right, it isolates your building from soil movement and gives you a clean, level platform to build on. We handle the whole sequence: excavate and form the footings, set rebar, lay and fill the block stem, then prep and pour the interior slab. It's the standard for a casita, a room addition, or a new structure, and it's worth getting from a crew that builds them regularly instead of treating it like a one-off.
A floor that holds a car is not the same as a floor that holds a lift, a loaded trailer, or heavy equipment. Thickness, rebar spacing, and the strength of the mix all change with the load you're putting on top. We size the slab to the job, whether that's a workshop floor, a garage, an RV or equipment pad, or an AC pad that just needs to sit flat and stay put. Heat matters too. Pouring in Arizona means watching the timing and curing so the concrete gains strength instead of flash-drying and crazing on the surface. You get a pad that's poured for how you'll actually use it, not a one-size slab.
